Individual Psychotherapy for Adults:

Creative Solutions for Common Problems

Welcome!

I have over 35 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages. I have been in private practice since 2000. I employ a range of therapeutic interventions to address a variety of common problems and emotional symptoms.  I want to say a few words about my practice motto "Creative Solutions for Common Problems". What does this mean?  The idea of "creative solutions" reflects the fact that I see psychotherapy as a creative collaboration. Both parties bring resources to the relationship. Your creativity will be as important as mine in discovering and developing solutions to your problems or symptoms. Many of the treatment methods I employ encourage this creative process. My main approach is the Internal Family Systems (IFS), and you will find two pages of information on IFS (the second page is IFS Resources). My website is intended as a resource for prospective patients, the general public, and other therapists.

The idea of "common problems" reflects the reality that most emotional symptoms are generated by a shared pool of universal themes, conflicts, and dilemmas-- such as coping with losses or transitions of various types, protecting ourselves from difficult feelings, healing from trauma, and balancing the sometimes competing needs for dependence and independence (i.e. attachment vs. autonomy). Sometimes what we deem to be a problem turns out to be a solution to another problem that we have yet to articulate,  in which case the task of therapy is to assist in the identification and resolution of this "other problem."  I offer both office visits and teletherapy sessions. The quickest way to contact is through email, using the link at the bottom of each page.
